Word Lists: Start Practicing!

1. Most word lists are arranged by syllable stress. Take a moment to prepare yourself to speak with good stress. Think about going up-down for the first syllable words, down-up or down-up-down for the second syllable words, and so on.

*If needed, review the Syllable Stress page in the Introduction.

2. Watch the video or videos. You can just listen or listen and repeat.

3. Notice any pronunciation or spelling rules you have learned.

4. Watch the video(s) again. Listen and repeat until you are comfortable with the words.

5. Go back to the lesson's main page (the link is at the bottom). Now click on Word Stress: Formal.
