Using Will and Would in Questions and Statements

In Use
Will you lend me some money?
Are  you going to lend me money?
In questions, it is okay to use will with friends and family in casual situations.
Use would with people you do not know well or in situations that are more formal or important.
Would you lend me some money?
Will you please lend me money?
I will lend you twenty dollars.
Yes--a basic, positive response.
Use will to express a positive statement.
I would lend you money, but right now, I don't have any.
I would lend money to a member of my family.
No--a negative response followed by an explanation.
Yes--a positive thought.
Use would to express a negative statement followed by an explanation.*
Use would to express a possible situation.
* Exception: I would love to!
I would love to ___________ [come to your party].
