Using DID
Use the past tense form of the verb to answer these questions in the
affirmative. Use didn't + the simple present to answer in the negative.
Example: Did you study grammar for many years? Yes, I studied grammar for a long time.
No, I didn't study grammar for many years.
1. Did you go shopping last week?
2. Did you write an important paper recently?
3. Did you take a vacation recently?
4. Did you enjoy last weekend?
5. Did you get any texts during the last two hours?
6. Did you wake up in a good mood today?
7. Did you sleep well?
8. Did you talk to someone in your family yesterday?
Note: You can answer Yes, I did and No, I didn't.
However, while you practice grammar, try to use complete sentences as
often as possible. This will help you to remember what you have learned.
Practice the simple past with both common and irregular verbs.
1. Think about a place you went yesterday. Describe how it affected
you. Think about how you felt, what you saw, what you heard, what you
smelled, what you learned, wanted or bought and so on.
2. Describe 3 or more activities that you enjoyed when you were a child. Use active verbs.
3. Describe a recent trip across town. It could be your commute. Describe where you stopped, waited, went fast and so on.
