Health Care in 2012

WATCH  VIDEO

In March of 2012, the Supreme Court will decide on a basic issue involving health care reform. Over several days, they will hear arguments on whether or not Congress has the authority to require Americans to buy a product. In this case, that product would be health care. The Court will also wrestle with two smaller issues in the law. 1) The requirement for states to expand their Medicaid package to low-income people by 2014. 2) The issue of severity which means that if you throw out the mandate, the requirement for participation, can any part of the law survive. Essentially, the Supreme Court may undo the Affordable Health Care for America Act. On the other hand, if they rule in favor of the act, this could provide future possibilities for health care reform.
