Simple Present with Two Verbs

Sometimes we use the verb + infinitive. Sometimes we use the verb + present participle.

Verb	with Infinitive Verb	with Present Participle	Example
let	yes--with a direct object, without "to"	no	She let me rewrite my essay.
like	yes	yes	I like to watch movies. I like watching movies.
love	yes	yes	I love to visit new countries. I love visiting new countries.
manage	yes	no	He manages to keep his customers happy.
mean	yes	no	She means to ask for a raise.
meet	yes	no	Let's meet to discuss the project.
miss	no	yes	My grandmother passed away. I miss talking to her.
ought	yes	no	I ought to learn Spanish.
pay	yes -- often with an object	no	He pays to go to the gym. He pays $50 a month to go to that gym.
plan	yes	no	They plan to go to Chicago.
